Better Late Than Never…
Well, it's been quite a while since you graciously signed up to receive the GUS newsletter. And yet you have recieved very little. I apologize for that. I did promise I wouldn't deluge you with messages. I have have been unsubscribing to quite a few newsletters lately for just this reason. But I went to the extreme opposite and sent nothing. Building the site has taken a lot of time and effort and I wanted to wait until I had something that was worth your while.
User Blogs
You may know about the Gustrength's Blog but we also have a couple of GUS user blogs you may be interested in:

Joe Weir's Strength Blog
Anuj's Training Blog
Eric Troy's Blog (my own Gus blog)

There are so many great posts but I want to call your attention to a select few:

Getting in the Zone Series

This series of posts is designed to help you find that illusive 'flow' in your training. This is what most people call being 'in the Zone' and it is not something that can be just turned on like a switch. At least not for everyone. I have written six posts and six associated articles which I believe will get you well on your way to mastering the psychological aspect of lifting and training.

You've heard the ridiculous statement about how it's 80% nutrition and 20% training? As if, right? Well, I think it's pretty much all mental and the rest is just details!

Joe Weir's Grip It! Series

A guide to grippers, how to set a gripper, and the real deal about left handed versus right handed grippers. Plus more. Also don't miss Joe's DIY series.

The Importance of Progression

Anuj talks about his own road deadlifting and achieving the ever challenging Pistol squat in this excellent post on progression. Anuj is well on his way to deadlifting 500 any day of the week and I can remember when he couldn't imagine breaking 400. Speaking of "any day of the week" a unique discussion ensues on progression after this post. It may change the way you think about strength training progress. Related is my article Strength Consolidation: An Example

There is so much more but before I make this newsletter too long maybe I should just include a link to all the GUS categories so you can check it out for yourself.

Forum
You do NOT have to be a site member to post in the forum. I'd rather people be able to communicate and get help regardless whether they are a member. Most sites act like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to sign up to a forum. Forums are a dime a dozen. We want to EARN the right to call you a member!

The forum is small right now. You can help it grow. The environment is great and you will not see any hating going on. We may criticize but we don't flame. There are plenty of things out there to disagree with but the question is whether you can BUILD something from that. Hating takes too much energy. Save it for the gym.

Anyone can tear things down and that is what most forum communities are great at. Even some of the "professionals" that I had great respect for have proved to be great flamers rather than builders when it comes to forums…much to my dissapointment.

Contact me if there is ANYTHING I can do. OR is you just have something to say.

You can use the contact form at GUS or email me: moc.htgnertsug|cire#moc.htgnertsug|cire
