Plantar Fascia

Plantar Fascia: A wide, nonelastic, ligamentous band of interconnected fascia tissue that covers the plantar surface of the foot, providing support for the longitudinal arch. It extends from the posterior medial calcaneus to the proximal phalanx of the toes. This tissue can become strained from overuse, for our footwear, running on hard surfaces and other problems, leading to a condition known as ;*plantar fasciitis, which means "inflammation of the plantar fascia".
