The I-band is the dark band which corresponds with the actin filaments in skeletal muscle. Skeletal muscle has an alternating dark and light striated appearance under magnification due to the arrangement of the myosin and actin filaments and the Z-line. The I-band corresponds with the actin filaments. See A-band.
