Atrophy

Atrophy is the wasting away or decrease in size of an organ or tissue. Atrophy can result from the death of cells and their subsequent resorption, diminished cellular proliferation, ischemia, malnutrition, decreased activity, or hormonal changes.
Used as a verb, atrophy means to undergo or cause atrophy.
Muscular atrophy or muscle atrophy usually refers to atrophy of the muscle due to lack of use or denervation.
