Acidosis
Acidosis refers to a raise in the body's extracellular H+ (hydrogen) concentration beyond the normal range. During acidosis, the PH of the body fluids falls. This is guarded against by buffer systems within the fluids, respiratory control which regulates the rate of CO2 exhalation, and renal regulation. See alkalosis and acid-base balance.
