Abdominal Cavity

The abdominal cavity is the space between the spine and the abdominal wall that contains the stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, small intestine, spleen, part of the large intestine, and fluid. This area is defined by the anatomical structures of the pelvis, spine, and costal arch (costal cartilages of 7th to 10th ribs), which are rigid, and by the musculo-apaneurotic abdominal wall and diaphragm muscle, which are flexible.
