I cannot get over how many "coaches" think they know about training just because they've studied some books on Kinesiology and strength training anatomy that their defense is to use big fancy words to convey simple things.
Oh he squats wrong because he's not able to squat DOWN between his legs?
Let us label this as Biomechanical disadvantage
These coaches sit around "coaching" forms on movement but if you tell them to get off the foundation and to try to program - to actually program, any specific trainee to reaching new heights…guess what? This is like passing water through a sieve. All the useless and bottom feeding coaches will pass through the tiny holes and the real gems will stay back.
You cannot keep talking about exercise form and theory of training and lifting and getting stronger while being unable to take your weakest trainee and make him the strongest he can become through proper programming and progression. You're not a real coach otherwise. You're just a guy who is waiting for naturally strong dudes to walk into your premises and all you will do is make him test his maxes week in and week out till he breaks or till the record breaks and you'll feed him whatever he needs feeding so he gets to the next stage.
I know I give Westside a lot of shit but if anybody knows me they know how much I LOVE all the hardcore PL pictures and gym equipment… but the crux of the matter is - and this undeniably so: Louie can take ANY genetic freak - any strong guy with a BIG total to a HUGE total. But he cannot take a genetically inferior weak guy (and when I say genetically inferior I mean a regular guy - not someone who's strength ceiling is very high: and this accounts for majority of people everywhere) whether he be skinny or fat and transform him to a truly strong bloke. Something like this would require copious amounts of time and planning and energy and there is no fast road for this. There are only a handful of ACTUAL coaches who can pull this off.
Another thing which coaches do is get people to start lifting and testing their rep maxes (whether it's 1RM or 5RM or 8RM) week in and week out with no real progression schemes. The only underlying rule is: "You eat lots of food you go to the gym you lift heavy you eat more food and wala: you will become bigger and stronger..this is KISS!"
No. Just no.
OK rant over
