I have just started this thread, and right now I have only one company to report. I am going to say, rather than avoid, to approach this company with caution as they have so many products and their quality control is inconsistent. Enough of their products failed quality control tests:
This company sells many bodybuilding type products, including things like maltodextrin, and just about everything else you can imagine. Although many of their products are undoubtedly fine, based on ConsumerLab reports from the past, they have had enough failings to make it very difficult to predict whether a product will be reliable at any one time. Vitamins failing to disintegrate in time is one problem, and another is failing to meet amounts of active herbal ingredients claimed on labels.
Upon checking the recent updated ConsumerLab reports, the brand is doing better than I recall it doing in the past, so this may represent an upswing in quality. NOW passed 12 out of 14 of the products tested, including Magnesium, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Pottasium (pottasium chloride), Borage Oil, Mixed vitamin E supplement, Zinc, B-12, calcium citrate, Ubiquinol, glucosomine and MSM, green tea extract, and Neptune krill oil.
Horny Goat weed failed because it only had 7.7mg of the claimed 75mg of Icarin and a multivitamin, "Vit-min" failed due to disintegration problems. In mid 2011 Now foods conducted a recall of their Calcium and Magnesium softgells due to potentially toxic levels of Vitamin D, from 30 to 40,000 IU in 3 softgels as opposed to the claimed 600 IU per 3 softgel serving.
I will keep monitoring it but for now I'd give the comp a "yellow light." Proceed with caution. If the products meet quality standards, I will say that they are a consistently good value for the money.
Remember this is only opinion based on only a sampling of reports. I have used their products in the past and I have had no personal negative experiences with them.
