I spoke to Devraj & Ashiem when I found out they were part of a group called GUS that focuses on strength development over aesthetics, unlike majority of the rest of the lifting population I've come in contact with in my country. Peaked my curiosity and I would like to take the opportunity of training with people who are stronger than me and learn from them in improving my own lifts.
Name is Ketan, lifting for about 3 years seriously now. Started off with Stronglifts 5x5. Was on the program for about a year complete. My lifts had peaked by about 6-8 months though, the whole year consisted of gaining a respectable amount of strength from being a beginner putting on a lot of mass, including fat ~ 10kg's and then cutting back down by the same amount. After that I shifted a bit into the bodybuilding aspect with me newly earned mass, while always trying to increase strength on the 5 rep scale on squats and deadlifts.
After a long and comparatively successful stint for aesthetics(8 packs and 15 inch arms FTW! lol ) I'm in for the strength again. :)
Current stats :
Current Lifts :
Squat - 263x1x4
Bench - 191x1x3
Dead - 293x1x5
OH Press - 132x1x5
Rows - 187x1x5
Dips - BW + 40kg's 3x3
Chins - BW + 15kg's 3x3
Currently I am following Madcow and when I discussed it with Ashiem he was totally against it being a good idea for strength gain. Quoting his words "Madcow is shit!" x3 :p
Anyways I've never had a lifting partner or even anyone to guide me I've been doing what I'm doing all by myself right from the beginning, my resources have always been lifting forums such as Stronglifts.com for guidance.
I'm in for anything that can help me reach my goals.
Short term goals would be:-
The prestigious 300, 400, 500 under my belt.
No change in body-weight. Would like to gain the strength without having to bulk up like I did the very first time and gain unnecessary fat.
Please ask away anything that you guys need to know.
