I know it's been a long time since I touched base with you all, but I still lurk. I never was much of an active member, more of a behind the scenes guy, but I wanted you to know that I'm still around, still reading your journals and still training. I'm going to try to start hanging around more again. I usually do not have much to say, but I'll try to make my presence known.
FYI, For the past few years, I've been mainly training Bench for raw competitions. I recently went to a full meet (not as a competitor), and got the urge to start training Squat and Deadlift and see if I can total 1000 pounds at a meet at 198 and 53 years old. Actually, I think I can get 1000, 1,100 would be my ultimate goal.
I plan to start training SQ and DL heavy at the end of February, which is after a Bench meet that I'm training for now. I have to admit, I haven't been too regular with my lower body training (Hey, I'm a Bencher remember :) ) but I figure now is a good time to put some regular accessory/foundation training together to get ready for the heavy stuff in a few months. And before someone mentions bench and lower body, I do train my lower body as it is a very important component of a maximum one rep bench press, it just needs a lot more attention. :)
Bye for now,
