I'm new to the GUS site, and have been combing through the various articles/blogs. And I've noticed in a few articles your loathing of the 5x5 setup. Or, atleast, thats how I took it. If I may ask, why is that?
I'm not playing devil's advocate here. I'm not waiting to pounce once you reply. I'm just curious about your thoughts on the subject.
I guess you could say I cut my teeth using the 5x5 method. Got fairly strong using it. Maybe in spite of it instead of because of it? At the time I was using it, I never questioned it because that's what my high school coaches set up for us. Then once in college, the same thing…5x5. I had never trained before, what did I know that they didn't? I'd have to say that it was better for me than a routine I would have come across in a mag. telling me to do 12 sets for biceps twice a week.
How would/do you go about about getting raw beginners strong? What about intermediates? Not a big Texas Method fan, I gather.
Thanks for your time.
