this is heavy, my next 2 sets did go well, but I understand now, that if I had warmed up with a set of 25 or 30lbs X 3, I would've been better set for it.
The following sets were easier because the first one provided some acclimation. This is why you can sometimes fail/miss a lift, reduce the weight, perform a successful attempt, and revisit the failed weight and succeed.
I think you're missing my point though. A weight feeling heavier than normal does not necessarily mean you aren't warmed up. It means you haven't acclimated enough. You say 25 or 30x3 would have helped with the weight but 35x1 and 45x1 seems more appropriate to me. This of course isn't a substitute for a warmup, I'm only referring to acclimation so you're warmed up by this point.
I know we usually refer to the warmup as everything before the working sets, but really it is a warmup and acclimation.
