The following is a post Brian Jones (author of Sandbag Training Manual and Conditioning Handbook) made on my forum way back
"I think that a jump rope is the single most effective buy for your conditioning dollar. Inexpensive, portable, and effective. Just so we can generate some ideas to help train ourselves and our athletes, let's toss out some jump rope workouts.
Standard Alternating Foot Jump for Rounds 2-5 min with 30-60 sec rest intervals.
Interval Jumping - Alternate sprints with easy jumping on a 30 sec/30 sec ratio. Change the intensity by altering the work to rest ratio.
Agility Work by moving alternating foot patterns after a given time interval or number of rope hits. 2 Foot, 1 Foot, Alternating Feet, Jumping Jack, Front to Back Shuffle, Torso Twist, High Knee, Lateral Bounding, Front to Back Bounding, Double Unders, etc..
Jogging with the jump rope."
There so many things to do with a jump rope. In MaxCondition I dedicate an entire section to this subject.
