Boil the Frog by Charles Staley
Read that. Why the hell is an expert coach giving what is essentially a dogmatic and "common sense" approach to dealing with and preventing injuries? Because he has no real training in the field? Anybody could have come up with this stuff with a Google search..and keep on being injured.
See if you can pick out the problems with all this..
Here's a hint: Flexibility protects you form injuries…that's about 10 years out of date. All muscles don't shorten because of resistance training. And a short muscle isn't necessarily a "tight" one. But when it comes to injury prevention..just saying.. stretch muscles because they may shorten is not gonna cut it. Which muscles need stretching? When would it be it be contraindicated? Besides…MOBILITY as a GENERAL factor is the word we're looking for. C'mon, even the NY Times caught up with this stuff…
What else?
It's not exactly that it's dead wrong in every way…just that it is misleading.
Sorry, Will, but I wouldn't have allowed that on my blog…
If you must exaggerate to make a point, then you're must not be very good at making points.
