My bench press sucks. I recently tested my max & couldn't press 225. I can bench press 185 about 15 times or so. And I can incline bench press 205 for a few reps. Why do I have a poor bench press? Two reasons: Lack of variety and training at a low intensity. I have the typical sticking point. I can lock out 250 very easily.
My upper days are DE or ME & I alternate between an OH press and a bench press. Actually, I'm lying. I don't do very much DE work at all. My primary lifts are standing military press, log press, flat bench press, incline bench press, and flat DB bench press. Is that sufficient variety? Do I need to add speed work? What else am I not considering?
