Welcome to my blog.
This blog is a reflection of my thoughts and experiences regarding strength training both in and out of the gym.
Like Joe (you must check out his strength training blog for quality articles as well: Joe Weir's Strength Blog), I like to keep my thoughts as concise and brief as possible.
Most of my blog updates will be training related. The ones which aren't are most likely going to be video updates of my favorite PowerLifters and Strongmen. If y'all have any requests for specific topics which y'all would like to me write about, please don't hesitate to ask!
I hope y'all enjoy your stay and thanks for reading!

Looking Forward To
by Ashiem_Matthn 27 Jul 2009 04:26
I recently purchased two books which I am excited to read.
Before I begin, I'd like to say: I've gotten interested in MMA type training. Circuit-style workouts and endurance training looks interesting. But I am no MMA fighter and my primary goals are strength related - not endurance related at all. But, I've been dabbling in this type of training for 2 months now and so far it hasn't adversely affected my primary goals.

Obsession
by Ashiem_Matthn 10 Jul 2009 03:50
Do you ever get so tied up in your training that you live literally from workout-to-workout?
This happens to me from time to time, especially when I am anxious about losing strength - to the extent that I can find myself sitting all day wondering and imagining how my next workout will go down.
This is pure obsession.

Knowing Too Much
by Ashiem_Matthn 02 Jul 2009 11:46
Yesterday, my cousin asked me what he should do to gain weight.
It’s a simple question but it stumped me.

Make Your Own Dip Belt
by Ashiem_Matthn 26 Jun 2009 13:05
I finally made my own Dip Belt today.
I bought a cheap ass leather weightlifting belt for $7 (this is Bombay after all).
I then proceeded to buy a 6 foot long chain from a hardware shop for $2.

Pistol Squats Progression
by Ashiem_Matthn 19 Jun 2009 19:11
I finally managed to nail one legged squats with zero heel elevation!!!
It's been three months and I have gradually moved from using a thick heel elevation to using a thinner one and now I am left with none.

Importance Of Progression
by Ashiem_Matthn 16 Jun 2009 11:50
In my opinion, Progression is the key to strength training. There is no point in hammering away at an exercise without progressing on it. But this is not new knowledge. This is simply an observation – an observation made by many strength specialists and this has recently gained a lot of momentum with online mention. But, I want to highlight how each exercise you have adopted into your training should be treated – or can be treated, differently in terms of progression.
